Re: Boleyn Ground - The REAL Referendum - How Will You Be Voting?
I won an fhm O2 south of England tournament in 2006, we played the final at Highbury the day after our cup final with Liverpool. Sadly lost, I was fucked after being in Cardiff and not going to bed I was not the only one in our team, bloody lost to some scousers couldn't believe it. But we were the last to play there, it ain't no biggie if others play there, the real finale has been end of.

It's a non official game of football after the premier league has ended, for charity.

I don't see the problem. We had our last game. It's over now. I don't expect them to board it up completely.

People will enter the stadium after Tuesday's game. Eventually they will rip it down, and people will be there too.

It's not going to turn into plough lane and left untouched

Some (sad) people being PRECIOUS about an old, clapped out, derelict stadium they do not own

Either the website isn't bothering to remember your vote (wouldn't surprise me as they'll just lie about the response to suit anyway) or you can vote multiple times btw.

Re: Boleyn Ground - The REAL Referendum - How Will You Be Voting?
They've only given people the vote because Jack Sullivan was trying to flog it on TWITTER and people had a go about it so he back peddled massively.

He said he'd got big name reality TV stars in and everything. In that case Jack, play on...

What sort of idiot would genuinely object to this?

Well obviously, the club have given people the chance to vote on it, whatever way you vote is your choice, no one is an idiot whatever way you choose to vote

Me, I think Tuesday should be the last game EVER on that sacred pitch

Bang on the money.

Anyone that thinks the lights being turned off on Tuesday is actually going to be the very last action at the ground is being naive.

I say lets this go ahead....I might even be tempted to go over there myself for this....and grab a momento of two to take away with me.

Imagine 35,000 turned up for this and had a party!!!

Re: Boleyn Ground - The REAL Referendum - How Will You Be Voting?
Might as well put this on here as the other will be locked;

Absolute joke.

This has NOTHING to do with extra games being played there, as there are a fair few behind closed doors games for fans and for charity.

They're not being pushed by the club the way this one is though. And by the chairman's fucking child as if they think people will think it more acceptable.

I reckon they saw the masses outside on Tuesday, thought women's football is getting popular but we don't want to fund our own women's team properly so let's let the mug fans do it and we'll shift the rest of the food and drink we've got left whilst we're at it.

Classless as always.

Re: Boleyn Ground - The REAL Referendum - How Will You Be Voting?
The Hollywood version has Bobby turning off the lights for the last time and the diggers in the next morning.

The reality is that the pitch gets hired out every season the minute after the last game of the season is played. Obviously the diggers are not arriving yet, so this is one of many games being played on the pitch by hirers. If this game gets pulled, another game becomes the last game. Does that get pulled as well? Charity games after doesn't bother me. Billing it as the 'last game' 2 days after Bobby switched the lights off wasn't ideal. That's a marketing issue. Bottom line, it's one of many charity games taking place, big deal.

NO, Bobby Moore turned the lights out, remember?

Re: Boleyn Ground - The REAL Referendum - How Will You Be Voting?
I have already voted NO

I would've had no problem had this been before Tuesday night but after that, the ground should not be milked further. The last game at the ground we won 3-2, and Winston was the last ever goal scorer, that's how it should remain.
